私自身は，地震発生の直後，日本人会にいました。そこのNHKテレビで，日本の津波をリアルタイムで見ました。駐在の他の日本人もテレビに釘付けで，信じられない光景に驚きを隠せませんでした。
実は，マレーシアから2100人を超える留学生が日本に住んでいるそうで，そのうち在日マレーシア大使館が確認を出来たのは300人程度だそうです。幸い，AAJを巣立って行った学生は，政府奨学金の留学生ですので，第一番に安否の確認が出来たそうで，全員が無事だそうです。ですが，それ以外の留学生の保護者は不安な毎日を送っています。
